Tuesday Tidbits #111

~~~
Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!
~~~

I have never owned a slave, lynched a man because of his race, or fought to keep another group of people subjugated and oppressed. Neither can I pretend that all those things did not happen. You do not have to be responsible for a travesty to recognize it as such.

Gone are the stalworth combat correspondents who risked life and limb to report the news from areas of conflict. Now, the invasion of a sovereign country is live streamed by its citizens on smart phones. We are fed 1080p vignettes of real time atrocities, and yet, we still do nothing but watch.

The depth of human spirit is displayed when sitting with those who have so little, yet generously offer a visitor all they have.

Respect is being able to love someone you don’t agree with or agree with someone you don’t love.

Though I abhor violence, I am not a pacifist. I reserve the right to use violence in the protection of others from people who may only know that form of diplomacy. Don’t let my sheep costume fool you.

My life has not left an indelible mark, a changing of course, for the world’s betterment. My writing may well be simply a desire to remain beyond my own mortality. I hastily scratched “I was here, too” in the old oak desktop.

We have all wondered, at some point, what the right thing to do is. I have found that the answer is so rarely “nothing”.

Now get out there and write something!

    Wow 🤩 nice 👍

  3. Each and every one of these are brilliant phrases! I would, however, disagree that your “life has not left an indelible mark”. Your words often make a point that those of us who read them may never have thought of without them. I know that I’ve been changed by your words and have grown from that change. Don’t ever doubt your ability to make a difference even if you can’t see it!

  4. Very very powerful and poignant quotes today my friend. I agree, I am a lover of peace and hate violence but I am not a pacifist, I have and will take up arms if I must to defend myself and mine from the reaches of an oppressive tyrant. All the best.

    These are all wonderful. It’s a shame more people don’t see the generosity from those who offer everything they have to give, especially from those who don’t have much to offer.

    I disagree that you merely scratched the surface with your words. You have taught me so much, not only about poetry and writing, but life lessons as well. Some of your advice, and words of comfort will remain with me for the rest of my life! Scratch the surface? My dear, you inked your way into my heart.

    I am often indecisive, but I have learned that doing nothing, changes nothing, and sometimes, makes things worse. I can take sone time to think about my next move, but I eventually have to make it.

    Lovely, my friend!

      You say the nicest things, my friend! But I believe you have become the beautiful person you are because of you, not because of me. Much love, Kristian!

      • kristianw84 says:

        I’m only being honest, my friend. You may not have made me the woman I am, but there are words I’ve read and lessons I’ve been taught that make up part of who I am, and many of yours are interwoven. They are as much a part of me as my veins and arteries, and just as vital. I don’t think you fully grasp the impact your beautiful words have on others. Much love back!

      • Brad Osborne says:

        Thank you, Kristian! I will admit that the impact of my words is certainly on a long list of things I do not fully understand. But you are at the top of the list of people I appreciate!

  6. Jim Borden says:

    loved your closing one – we can all do something to make the world a better place…

  7. petespringerauthor says:

    It’s a pretty low bar simply to recognize another man’s hurdles. Yet, many can’t even do that.

  8. You were definitely here, Brad. Day in and day out. Stay healthy, your work is nowhere near done.

  9. jonicaggiano says:

    I really loved all of these Brad. My favorite:

    “Though I abhor violence, I am not a pacifist. I reserve the right to use violence in the protection of others from people who may only know that form of diplomacy. Don’t let my sheep costume fool you.”

    Some time I will write my story of how I did just that – and it changed my life so drastically. Sending my love, Jonikins
