Unbroken Night

There are times when you think you will not get out alive

When forces are plotted against your plan to survive

When the crushing weight of life pushes you down

And a myriad of great injustices around you abound

It is easy, in those darkest moments, to lose hope

Weighed by all the trials and tribulations you must cope

To suddenly feel that you have become so small

That to the rest of the world you don’t matter at all

Every person wrestles with these feelings at times

As self-doubt and self-worth collide in our minds

And though our pains and losses may greatly vary

The same weight of the world on our shoulders we carry

Do not let the malaise of a particularly dark moment

To creep in so deep as to become a component

A constant cog in your emotional machine

That drapes the soul so no hope can be seen

Fight back with strength of heart for all that you are

There were times when you didn’t think you’d get this far

But you saw it through with great strength and pride

Finding life again when you broke through the other side

Stand strong and rail against those chanting head voices

Know that your road ahead is still filled with choices

And know that with you we all stand in support

For no one wins by a grieved fatal final resort

Though your light may have dimmed in your eyes

Its necessity may come as somewhat a surprise

For our world without your sacred loved light

Moves us all a little closer to a darker night

And although it may be somewhat cliché to say

That it is darkest just before the break of day

Truer words may have never been spoken

And can help push away the night unbroken

  3. So true! You never know, with that next punch you’ll knock him out, or just over that hill…never surrender, never give up…

Beautiful Brad and so very true. There are not many of us that can say we have not experienced this feeling. I especially loved the ending stanza Brad. Sending huge hugs and lots of love Jonikins
