Two Eyes
~~~
You have two eyes
But I only a pair
Yet, how different we see
The world that we share
~~~
Colored by things
We do not understand
Makes the shared view
Seem two different lands
~~~
If the only truth
Is what we each see
Then a dichotomy stands
Where none should there be
~~~
Narrowed owned views
The margins erase
And logic is skewed
Understanding replaced
~~~
I may never see
The world through your eyes
But that doesn’t mean
We can’t compromise
~~~
Not seeing somethings
The way that you do
Does not make anything
You see be less true
~~~
And what I perceive
Unshared in your view
Does not make anything
I see be less too
~~~
You have two eyes
And I have a pair
Help me to see
The world that we share
~~~
wonderful poem of compromise and acceptance
Thank you, Beth! Enjoy your Easter!
Seeing something in someone’s else’s eyes, in someone else’s perception, can help us grow in our ability to be more accepting.
One would certainly hope so. Thanks, sis. Love you!
“Help me to see the world that we share.” If everyone would be so kind…
Thank you, my dear friend!
You’re very welcome!
Beautifully penned. If only everyone were so open minded.
Thank you, Kristian!
Even if I may disagree with someone’s perception, I always want to understand their viewpoint.
And there is found the birth of any compromise. Thank you, Pete!
Wow does this resonate Brad. Some become only defensive without even trying to understand. Life is all about perception. This is a lovely piece and it would be an easier and less angry world to live in if people tried looking through other’s eyes. I hope it is getting warmer there Brad and you are enjoying Spring. Sending hugs and love. ❤️🤗🌹Jonikins
Thanks, Jonikins! It is getting warmer, but it did snow the other day. I think spring forgot we are here. Much love!
That makes it very difficult to enjoy your motorcycle. Watch the clouds tonight as I will be sailing a boat over your house around midnight and planting the sun to rise exactly at 6 AM. There may be some flowers popping up as well, hope you enjoy them and the beautiful sunrise, sending big hugs. Love Jonikins
