Alien

~~~
I have roamed through every land
Seeking that special one for me
Dug through all the dirt and sand
Bleeding hands and bending knee
But there was no sign of you
So, search did I the ocean blue
~~~

Diving vast briny world, I roved

Not finding the one to keep

Searched each trench and every cove

Scoured the darkest and the deep

Unfound, unknown, I knew not why

So, one great leap into the sky

~~~
Tore apart each cloud like cotton
As I soared to the greatest height
My hopes and dreams the forgotten
As you remained hidden from my sight
And from the loft of eagle’s rook
I wondered where else I could look
~~~

Must I leave the earth that I love

Transit the most dangerous place

Find my one and only somewhere above

In the dark and cold of outer space

Maybe this is the most ironic pearl

That you must be from a different world

~~~
    I have no doubt that you will find the one, perhaps where you least expect it
    Brad, as always, your poetry moves me. One of my favorite quotes from C.S. Lewis is “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” I have often, and still do at times, feel like an alien. I know there’s a world waiting filled with nothing but true love.
      Thank you, Karla! It is such good feeling to be understood on the deepest levels. I love the quote you shared. I cannot thank you enough for your kind words and constant support. Much love to you, my alien!
        Brad, you’re so welcome. Being understood is something I’ve desired my entire life. Yes, I’m a recovering people pleaser. But really it wasn’t about others liking me or not. But in every relationship, just trying to be understood. I’m so glad you enjoyed the quote. C.S. Lewis was a man in which I could relate to his thoughts and wisdom on God and life, in general. And I thank you as well for your constant support and love! 💛💕🤗
        Much love back! Have a blessed day! ❤️💐😘
  3. Your ending was unexpected, despite the fact that I read the title of your poem and it should have been a hint! The romantic in me loved these words!
    Alien love, eh? Might be possible…
  5. A very nice and rhyming…full of rhythm…poem. Well said my friend.
    Ironically, we often find the one when we’re not searching for them.
    I love this, my friend! Beautifully written!
    Brad the subject, rhythm and rhyme is so lovely. The sense of longing so beautifully expressed. I was so misunderstood as a teenager and in my early twenties and spent a lot of time alone. That can feel painful. Sending my love and many hugs. Jonikins
