Construct of Time

~~~
Universal time beyond
What we can comprehend
And we, a flicker of life
In something without end
~~~

Only we hear the ticking

Our perception of life’s clock

As we hurl through endless space

On a five billion year old rock

~~~
That knows nothing of time
Or how frantic our short lives
It holds no great urgency
For an end that never arrives
~~~

It is sheer hubris to think

We leave behind a legacy

We are but a speck of ink

On a billion pages of history

~~~
But time is what we built
To measure and report
The brevity of our lives
In our time so very short
~~~

And within this construct

The second hand we chase

We rush to live fast enough

To win this human race

~~~
    and it seems to be only later in life when we really realize how brief it is
  2. We are the essence of Creation and the perfection of the universe, there is only one thing greater than man, and that is God. Beautiful, powerful and meaningful words Brad, for although we are the children, the path of humility should be our own. All the best my friend!
    I’d heard time went faster after you retired. I’m finding that to be true, but that just means the old guy needs to move a little faster. 😎
    Beautifully written and something most of us struggle with. The secret, I believe, is getting to the point where you can relax and still the mind. To find something that makes you truly happy that doesn’t necessarily involve another person, only ourselves. I believe it is our responsibility when we leave here to have left some sort of significant imprint upon our world. Love Jonikins 🧚🏻🙏❤️
