Tuesday Tidbits #123

Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!

The hardest apart about surviving combat is to watch your country become something you would not fight for.

My internal clock was not made for daylight savings time. It takes three months for my body to adjust. My body spends half the year not knowing what time it is.

I wake up every day before my alarm goes off. So consistently that I honestly don’t remember what my alarm sounds like. But somehow, I can’t fall asleep unless I know the alarm is set.

To others, my writing is art or entertainment, but to me it is a de facto diary. A touchstone that to the outside world is a cypher, but to me reads plainly.

I am not as bad a person as I used to be. And not as good a person as I hope to be. But I like to think that I am past the middle and heading in the right direction.

I am happy having little because I have met people who have nothing.

Your best friends will tell you things you don’t want to hear. That is why they are your best friends.

Now get out there and write something!

the first one must be incredibly challenging for you.

  2. We’ve talked briefly about the first one, and those of us who have never served can only imagine how jumbled and tiring it must be to live each day with that feeling. And, my brother, you have never been a ‘bad’ person. You have made some bad choices, and you’ve had times that bad choices were made FOR you but learning to not repeat those choices is called growing. And you have been doing an incredible job that that!

  3. Sometimes a little is a lot. Well said my friend.

  4. I just realized I dumped an awful lot of “best friends” a little prematurely.

I can relate to the alarm clock. I don’t set it often now, but I must look at the clock at least ten times during the night when I do.

I wish I had words of comfort for the first tidbit, that must be challenging. Growing and learning from past mistakes is a wonderful thing. Introspection only happens to those who seek it. Of course you’re on the right path! I love the last one. My best friend and I have never been afraid to say the hard truths. We call them verbal 2×4’s!
