Vessel
~~~
The vessel has seen its last
To ground, the body cast
Yet the spirit does remain
Now free from every pain
~~~
Witnessed by angelic eyes
A loving son still survives
Burdened by the loss
Bearing a troubled cross
~~~
For him, time still a measure
But she has become the forever
Something that will always be
Though vessel you do not see
~~~
And, if to him she could speak
Whispered in a kiss to cheek
Forever could be explained
As the her in him retained
~~~
Then simpler words would do
For this mother’s love so true
“It has always been this you,
that my forever holds onto.”
what a beautiful, beautiful ode to mother
Thank you, Beth!
This is such a beautiful ode, Brad! Stunning work. It moved me to tears.
Thank you, dear Kristian!
Hi Brad, I can never forget this poem, I have in fact taken a print out and framed it ( I hope that’s fine), reminds me of a lot of things and of course your ode to mother! Thank you for the repost, this one even though written by you, forever will belong to me, and I only ask you to allow me that for only this one ethereal piece!
This is your poem, my friend. I am honored that you ask, but it was written for you and is yours in every sense. I hope you will continue to find strength and joy as you remember your beloved mother!
Thanks, Brad, means a lot to me 🙏
This is such a very beautiful piece. Shows such love for another and good care and support, really beautiful Brad. 🦋Jonikins
