In a Flash
~~~
There is something to be said
If in the end, you are not dead
As life flashes in front of you
A moment of reflective view
~~~
A quick glimpse of entire past
Fast forwards by so fast
And we then, well-reminded
To our future we are blinded
~~~
In all the images replayed
Even the mistakes we made
We find the reward that’s given
Is leading a life worth living
~~~
Every moment that then follows
Finds the gift in every tomorrow
In this blessing, a joy is found
Another day above the ground
~~~
wonderful reminder – very positive
Thanks, Beth! Hope you are enjoying your summer.
A beautiful reminder to make the most of the time we have! This is beautiful, my dear! ❤
Near death experiences would cause anyone to see every day that followed in a new and promising light. However, facing our own mortality is not a requirement to learn how to appreciate that the time we are given is a gift. Thank you, dear Kristian! ♥
I have had a few of those experiences where I was certain that only seconds or minutes of my life remained, and it does put things into perspective, but nothing really showed me how ephemeral time is until I lost a parent.
I agree, though, one does not need either to appreciate the time we are given. I am sure there are other experiences, perhaps, less traumatic that can show us that every new day is a gift.
I am sure it is different for everyone, but some will never understand the fragility of life. Some people cannot appreciate something until it is gone. But we can hope!
Even when I think I am enlightened and understand the need to appreciate certain special gifts, the emotion that comes with important losses usually exceeds my logical expectations.
As my mother-in-law used to say, “Well, I don’t feel great, but it beats the alternative.”
A woman with perspective. Thanks, Pete!
This is a beautiful piece, a reminder of how very much we are blessed if we have more time on this earth in which we can try and be as nice as possible. Hopefully we do some good and kind things along the way. Jonikens
Thanks, Jonikins! We should always remember we have less time than we think we have. Blessings to you and yours!
