I have forgotten most everything

Paled all the vivid reminders

Moth-eaten memories given wing

To the past, a little bit blinder

Forgotten how your hair would fall

When you leaned in with pouted lips

Or how the time could simply stall

Under the touch of your fingertips

I have healed the heart you broke

Forgiven myself more than due

Recanted all the words we spoke

Forgotten our love, sad but true

I don’t hear your laugh in the crowd

Or see your face in hopeful dreams

I never say your name out loud

More dangerous than it may seem

I don’t keep your favorite wine

Chilled, waiting for you to arrive

I have given away the divine

For a chance to just survive

I have forgotten most everything

And yet remains, one singular stain

In all the years, from that to this

I still haunted by your passioned kiss

hard to forget some things that leave an impression

  2. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we just will not forget and the memories can last decades and decades. It is better not to fight against them. Lovely poem my friend, which I greatly enjoyed. All the best.

So lovely and emotionally tugging are your words in this piece Brad. My favorite lines are:

“Or how the time could simply stall

Under the touch of your fingertips”

Stunning writing Brad. Sending blessings your way, Joni
