What is a Poem
~~~
What is a poem, if not a prayer
A pleading coo on whispered air
A beg for grace in lyric tone
Words, the sacred given throne
~~~
Metered hymn in reverence
Language seen as recompense
Worship we the things held dear
In rhyme and rhythm to the ear
~~~
A tithe of time and of tense
Scriptured lines in silence
Gospels of man written there
What is a poem, if not a prayer
~~~
poems are often the purest form of prayer
So true! Thank you, Beth!
Gahh! I don’t think it’s possible for me to choose a favorite poem of yours. They are all so beautiful, and you are a phenomenal poet, but this one is high on the list! Absolutely beautiful! 😍
Thank you, Kristian! ♥
A poem is a reflection and the explanation of the beauty that we see or the beauty that we wish to express in any form available or chosen. Beautiful my friend!
Thank you, brother!
Always a pleasure!
Interesting way to look at a poem. With me is a totally different case, but Who knows maybe It could be the same point of view with the exception of the rhyme.
Thank you!
Magical—”A pleading coo on whispered air.”
My new vocabulary word for the day (Thank you for the answer, Mr. Google) is tithe.
Thank you, Pete!
