Do Not Cry For Me

Do not cry for me
I sleep in the bed I made
Each thought and action
Is the hand I have played
Do not cry for me
Or give concern a voice
This is not fate you see
The result of every choice
Do not cry for me
Even when things seem bad
What I must bear in life
Does not require you be sad
Do not cry for me
Save your tears for greater need
Consequences are blind at best
And what mistakes do breed
Do not cry for me
Let nary a teardrop fall
I can take what this life gives
The good, the bad, I accept it all
Do not cry for me
I shoulder no given curse
Whatever befalls to me
Someone is suffering worse

but still okay to cry for anyone who suffers, even if it is their karma
True that. Thank you, Beth!
Just because someone might have it worse doesn’t mean your pain isn’t valid. If I cry for your suffering, it is only because I care. Asking me not to would be like asking me not to breathe.
I understand this ask is hard for empaths like yourself. Just because your tears are not something I need or want; does not mean they do not have a need of their own. Thank you, Kristian! ♥
So true my friend! We each make our own road and it must go through wherever we need to go through to get there… beautiful!
I noticed a pattern you repeated in your last poem ending each stanza with “you linger in my head.” This feels like a continuation of the pattern and sentiment of that piece, starting each stanza with “do not cry for me.” It shows that you’ve made your choices and are not looking for sympathy.
I will not cry for you but when you are not looking, I may shed a single tear.
