Revealed
~~~
Be wary of the fine words
That drip like honey
Into eager ears
Like sweet red wine
They imbibe the mind
An effervescence
That tickles the ego
~~~
Steel yourself against whim
Truth can hide like shadows
And not every intent
Is so easy seen
That comes between
What is said
And what is meant
~~~
The measure of language
Is found in what we do
Not what we say
For words too easily lied
And hearts easily plied
When love songs
Are all we hear
~~~
Sunlight is beauty reflected
But glare when seen head on
Sometimes there are angles
That offer a better view
If something is really true
A step to either side
Can hold a revelation

that’s so true. beware of the smooth snake-oil salesman.
I am always on the lookout for oily snakes! Thanks, Beth!

Well played. Love you, sis!
An important lesson. People might not always mean what they say, but their actions will always reveal who they truly are. So well said!
So true! Thank you, my dear friend!
Words, like eyes, tell different stories, usually not adherent to the truth. The only part of the human body that does not lie are the feet… Wonderful expressive writing my friend! All the best.
Thank you, Francisco!
A pleasure my friend!
The message seems to be to always keep our guard up. The old proverb, “Actions speak louder than words,” immediately comes to mind.
You are not wrong, Pete! I think I simply find a very long way of saying the same thing. My best to you and yours!
I sometimes have trouble meaning what I say because I don’t understand half of what I babble out.
I know that feeling, my friend!
