Every Tomorrow

~~~
There was a time
When the weight of my world
Fell onto tired shoulders
With little strength to fight
~~~

I watched the sun set

On so many, many things

And was trapped within

The slowly dying light

~~~
The shadows there
Held every brilliant wrong
As the coming darkness hid
Anything, as yet, still right
~~~

And the candles you lit

Could not breathe that air

Crushed by the despair

That dark became the night

~~~
In blindness, I groped
To find the will and want
Bear the weight, one more day
Not give in to undue plight
~~~

Like time stood still

I did not count the days

Before a blessed sunrise

Began to share its bright

~~~
And the lesson learned
In a valley, so gray and low
Is that every tomorrow
Holds a hope for sight
~~~

    I dearly love your poetry! Hope is something we should all hang onto. I’m glad the poem ended on a positive note. ❤

    I think anybody who’s been paying attention lately can relate hard to these two stanzas….well done.

    This is such a beautiful poem – it captures the feeling of despair so well. I can relate to the idea of wanting to give in to the darkness but finding the strength to keep going. My question is, what inspired you to write this poem?

    • Brad Osborne says:

      Thank you for your kind words, Sarah! I was inspired to write this poem to remind myself and others that every tomorrow holds a different light if we only hang on long enough to find it.
