Alien
~~~
I have roamed through every land
Seeking that special one for me
Dug through all the dirt and sand
Bleeding hands and bending knee
But there was no sign of you
So, search did I the ocean blue
~~~
Diving vast briny world, I roved
Not finding the one to keep
Searched each trench and every cove
Scoured the darkest and the deep
Unfound, unknown, I knew not why
So, one great leap into the sky
~~~
Tore apart each cloud like cotton
As I soared to the greatest height
My hopes and dreams the forgotten
As you remained hidden from my sight
And from the loft of eagle’s rook
I wondered where else I could look
~~~
Must I leave the earth that I love
Transit the most dangerous place
Find my one and only somewhere above
In the dark and cold of outer space
Maybe this is the most ironic pearl
That you must be from a different world
~~~
I predict you will find your one before you leave here
I always knew there was a little gypsy fortune-teller in you!
that’s me!
This reminds me of the song “I still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” by U2. I especially loved the line “Tore a part each cloud like cotton.” You have such a beautiful way of pulling me into your poetry. Like a magical ride through a lyrical story. You are brilliant, my dear friend!
Thank you, my dear friend!
