Editorial – “What Have We Become”

I wrote this piece on April 4, 2020 at the onset of the Covid pandemic. Some of the thoughts and feelings I captured then have changed and, sadly, some have not.

‘Twas the Night Before Covid Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, 2020 the year,
The days were blurring with pandemic fear;

In Our Hands

It was not all that long ago,
When an offered hand,
Was the measure of a man…

So Thirsty

But there is no thought to this,
These crazy things you do…

Change

I thought I had a handle on things,
But what little did I really know…

A Nurse Cries

She cries,
Salted pain hangs from her lashes,
And falls upon her light blue smock,
To mix with the sweat of long days.

Better Days

A lunch bell rings and echoes,
But there is no one to hear…

Shaping Our World

Now we see the things that bind,
A ribbon through humanity…

We The People

There is greater understanding now,
A global view of connections…

Trying Times

These are the times when mettle tested,
When we are measured and weighed…
