Editorial – “What Have We Become”

I wrote this piece on April 4, 2020 at the onset of the Covid pandemic. Some of the thoughts and feelings I captured then have changed and, sadly, some have not.

Unbroken Chains

Slavery does not always come with chains,
The sad practice to this day remains…

World on a Shelf

There, in long orderly rows,
The entire world lain bare…

In Our Hands

It was not all that long ago,
When an offered hand,
Was the measure of a man…

Canary Song

I don’t blame you,
The digging is hard work,
And this old rock,
Bears little ore to sell…

Indigenous

Were wrapped in greedy wishes,
And fingers crossed on hands…

Take a Breath

From darkened rooms and little troll holes,
The intolerant are given roles,
And speak their lines of displeasured rage,
From behind thick curtains just off stage.

Love Light

This is not how we were made,
To cast others in our shade,
Treatment based on some earned grade,
Regardless of dues they paid.

Just a Drop

Freezing attitudes harden you to the world
Your rigidity ever apparent in your icy state
