Next Moments

~~~
It is impossible to be happy all the time
Our lives are in the ebb and flow
A constant parade of things unknown
And feelings we neither want or need
That keeps the happy from being freed
We become bound in the woes of the world
~~~

Strength comes in the spirit knowing

Even as the world turns to ashen gray

And our joys seem so yesterday

Each dawn brings white canvas clean

Our lives await their painted scene

And the colors they hold, we choose

~~~
We have all sat in those shadows
Trapped in the negative space
Where happiness is hard to trace
But we must learn to let it go
Or it becomes all that we know
And happy turns to fond memory
~~~

Recognize the tide and its change

Felt in all that you must feel

Release the pain, begin to heal

See again with clearer eyes

Your happiness again will rise

Next moments may hold your dawn

    i’ve learned to accept the ebb and flow and am much happier because of it –

    It’s odd, sometimes the things that hurt us the most are the hardest to let go of, but happiness usually follows when we do. At the very least, you’re right in that it brings clarity. Beautiful as always!

    life has its ups and downs, and we have to learn how to manage both…

    Jim echoes my thoughts on this subject. Learning to deal with disappointment is part of life. Do we wallow in self-pity, or do we pick ourselves back up and try to do better the next time around?

  7. Francisco Bravo Cabrera says:

    Cycles, ebb then flow, the way of life, it’s not necessarily a straightforward line but many circles. Lovely idea and a brilliant poem.
