Portrait

The bleach-whitened and perfect smile

Leopard prints and trendy style

Grand home of imported red brick

Black leather wallet fat and thick

Drop-top sports coupe in racing blue

Boat, at dock, a weathered ecru

Bright teal nails on manicured hands

Pink toes in Caribbean sands

A ripe and verdant tapestry

High end art for others to see

The nouns in which you find value

Won’t be the paint of honest view

For living life, within the words

Not in the nouns, but in the verbs

Not what we have, but what we do

That paints the portrait, colors true
