Painted in Twilight
Daylight melts into the horizon
A ribbon of pink and orange
Ties the hills to the sky
Shadows stretch like black taffy
Stars twinkle to life in the dying light
Mother Earthโs heat radiates
And staves off the chill of the night
Giving back her warmth to the air
And pulling the living into her womb
Worries and woes recede into the dark
And the bustle descends into hush
As time stretches with the unrushed
Thoughts are turned outside in
A perfume of stillness lingers
Aware of being so unaware
The body releases the day
The mind works to put work away
Dwellings become lighthouses
An electrified beacon of safe harbor
As families gather to hearth
Here I sit, in love with it all
A spring day painted in twilight
Your words are like brush strokes on a canvas that create a picture for the reader to see. Well done!
Thanks sis!
Excellent imagination ๐๐ค
Thank you, Srikanth!
What an unbelievable poem Brad. It has that surrealist dark pull but it is not overdoing it at all. The dark becomes light. The light whispers. Spring and love are the same.
Exceptionally done. Bravo.

Welcome, Brad. You too take care ๐ค
Loved this one Brad. Very well written, dreamy and surreal creating a true picture in the mind…
That is as close to painting as I will ever get, Francisco! I can see it in my head, but have no talent for making it appear on a canvas with the beauty that you do!
You paint wonderful canvases with your pen, it makes the colours in the mind vibrate and the images are formed perfectly. That is art, Brad, you are an artist…
That is so kind to say, my friend! I cannot deny the art found in the ink, but I will always be a little jealous of your ability to render it on canvas and film. We are always amazed by things we cannot do ourselves!
Yes, we are, for sure…but we do what we can to let that creativity flow…it’s all about communication…for me art is a language, like English or Spanish and if it doesn’t reach out and communicate, it’s not effective. You are a great communicator through your poetry. It is deep, interesting and very real, the message is positive and strong…that is art. Stay well, Brad, we are entering our second week of state imposed quarantine and we have three more to go, all for the better good! Love and peace from Spain!
Your country should be proud! Your pulling together and sense of community has been exemplary. The whole world is with you. And my best wishes are sent to you, dear friend, daily! Mantente fuerte, Espaรฑa!
Y fuerte seguiremos, muchas gracias amigo mio, igual vosotros,
We are also with you all and with the rest of the world…Stay well and stay home…
Very beautiful ๐
Thank you, my friend!
