One of a Kind

~~~
I am but a link in a chain
No stronger than the next
I am but a star in night sky
No brighter than the rest
~~~

I am but a grain of sand

Alone, I am not the shore

I am but a cloud in the sky

Just one of so many more

~~~
I am but a leaf on the flower
That helps the beauty show
I am but a tree in the forest
Where all the others grow
~~~

I am but a fish in the sea

Strongest within the school

I am but a drop in the bucket

Not why the bucket is full

~~~
I am but a second in infinity
Many before and many behind
Yet, how I live my life should be
As if I am one of a kind
~~~

    a wonderful place to finally arrive, in the ending of your poem, and in life

  2. What a wonderful use of words and a reminder, in ways, of how we are so much more together than we are apart. I enjoyed reading this!

    I like your poem. We are all parts of a greater whole. Here is an alternate ending, and a slightly different point of view:

    I am but a second in infinity
    Many before and many behind
    Yet, the One who created me
    Made me essential as designed

    and even though we are one of many, like the stars or a grain of sand, we are all unique and offer our own gifts to the world…

  6. We are definitely one of a kind. Lovely work indeed my friend!
