Tuesday Tidbits #21

Welcome to the limited series, Tuesday Tidbits. A collection of quotes to provide inspiration, determination, and elevation. I hope you find something that brightens your day!

If you have ever not shared your work because it just feels too personal and a little scary. You are probably sitting on some of your best writing.

I expect to be judged by my writing. Not only my talent at it, but on a personal level. If you are not comfortable with that idea, don’t publish. If you are comfortable with exposing yourself, then you must learn to take the good with the bad.

You will never get a book deal. You will never be recognized for your talent or art. You will never have the fame garnered by the authors of note. Now, if all that is true, do you stop writing? Or is the one person, who finds hope, love, or strength from your words enough for you? Because it should be.

If you have written for any length of time, you have been the recipient of some praise along the way. Do you remember how good that felt in those early years? On our own journeys as writers, we should be reaching back to those who follow with the same encouragement and desire to inspire and take the time to share that encouragement with them.

Sometimes, in creative writing, our works are seen incorrectly as a reference to personal experience. Do not fault your readers. This is the highest form of flattery for any writer. We have taken something outside ourselves and shared it in a way that it is not easily separated from who we are. That’s good writing!

Reality is a conscript of the mind. Writing allows you to break these chains and create your own reality in words. It throws off convention and societal acceptance to offer a view of worlds much more magical.

Tell me your sadness. Share with me your joy. Let me into your world to know you through the words you write. Let me find bits of myself within and hold onto them more dearly.

Now get out there and write something!

Great words of wisdom, as usual on a Tuesday! And you are absolutely right, you are sitting on your best writing if you are afraid of sharing it because it may be too personal. A writer has to be able to share without fear and to expose him/herself to the criticisms and/or praise of others. Great info, great thoughts and a post to treasure my friend.
    Great work!
