A Long Moment

Gentle scents fall on broken bough

There is the air and art of Belize

Twilight sings as sun does bow

A candle blown out by the breeze

Tacit dance the joys in glow

Entranced by the shadowed prose

Smiles drip from eyes that know

And a stronger spirit grows

The hourglass lies on its side

Moments hang like fluffy clouds

But for the whispers of the tide

Always passing, always proud

A taste of orange dreams as sent

Palms clap in great applause

For love that’s found in ascent

And the portrait that it draws

Silly thoughts as wishing well

As the stolen coins are hurled

A silent, sultry and sordid spell

Spoken warm against the world

The feelings that come over me

Stab like a needle in the vein

For every beautiful thing I see

Is where my love remains

These perfect and precise verses, Brad, says it all to me:
“The feelings that come over me
stab like a needle in the vein
For every beautiful thing I see
    Is where my love remains.”
Beautiful poem about a beautiful place…
Great work my friend. Hoping you are well and were able to take that motorcycle ride. All the best,
    Francisco

Thank you, dear friend! I am well and I did get a short ride in yesterday, which was a great lift to my spirits. Sending love and best wishes as your country pushes into brighter days ahead!

Good to hear that! And thank you for the love and well wishes, we certainly need it, although we are getting better every day! Have a great day my friend and I hope you are able to get a longer ride in the fresh air and sunshine of your home!

Beautifully wistful … filled with a kind of ethereal poignany.. it’s poetry that can be read and reread ..

love the line, “The hourglass lies on its side”, suggesting that time has taken a pause and that we are able to fully enjoy the moment for a while longer.
