Cause for Pause
~~~
Our lives are filled with things to be done
Chores to be worked and errands to run
We scurry about at such a harried pace
For being idle never wins the rat race
~~~
Each moment we have, we struggle and strive
As if, by doing, we will feel more alive
Yet, all the actions and the work that we ply
Simply watch as the precious moments tick by
~~~
But there is something you have never been told
It is in the stillness that our lives unfold
Doing nothing, for a moment, is not a sin
And taking a break may be just how you win
~~~
A pause from the world may feel a bit lazy
But the running around has only made you crazy
So, sit and be still, think of nothing at all
Relax your mind and let the worries fall
~~~
Juts a moment of tranquility and peace
Where our lives find their true release
A minute not filled with things to do
In the quiet is found much more to you
~~~
so beautifully said and spot on
Thanks, Beth!
As you know, I run a million miles a minute, but I do believe in taking the time to pause. This is beautifully written, and added to “The Whole World Needs to Read This” list!
I am glad you are keeping a list. I may ask to borrow it if I ever publish. Lord knows I can’t judge my own writing. Thanks, dear friend!
I will gladly help you with that task!
I can remember running a million miles a minute and realize, at least for me, it was the idea that if I kept busy enough, I wouldn’t have time to explore my thoughts (especially the negative ones). Only now, having swung to the complete other side of the pendulum, do I realize what a disservice I was doing to myself!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, sis! You may be saving someone else a long and tireless journey. Love you!
I was always good at giving this advice, but I wasn’t great at following it. I’ve finally figured it out in retirement.
All knowledge is valuable, regardless of when we learn it. Thank you, Pete!
I agree we need quiet time just to be or focus on one thing. A honest and well written piece about something we all need to practice. ❤️🦋
My wife and I borrowed my sister-in-law’s house on Orcas Island for the last four days. Very peaceful until I look at how far behind I am at reading the Blogs of people I follow!
