Burn It Down
~~~
I did not start the fire
But I laughed as the world burned
Warmed in the pyre
Of all the lessons yet unlearned
Sorting chaff with an ire
~~~
What little you must know
Unfound, an ounce of sanctity
In all the hate you sow
Words like weeds to humanity
Strangling as they grow
~~~
You cannot bait me small as this
Opinion offers no reprieve
Spiritual poison in the kiss
Cannot change what I believe
Regardless, what you may wish
~~~
So, burn it to the ground
If that is your great desire
But my words will not be found
Fanning your hateful fire
It is in truth my words are bound
~~~
powerful, refuse to be a part of it
Thanks, Beth! Sometimes that is the only choice.
Another one for the list! I stand with you, my dear friend. Only love can conquer hate!
Making the list is a big deal. Thank you, my friend! We will stand together.
“But my words
will not be found
Fanning your hateful fire
It is in truth my words are bound”
Wow. Looks like it didn’t take long for your words to come back. This is a very powerful poem.
