Change Your Mind

Cling not to the past

The ancient and rusted

The long-held full known

Is not the most trusted

World changes each day

And what we always knew

Becomes old thinking

In days that are too few

We can see the new

Only with open eyes

And with youthful hopes

We can visualize

That change always is

Likely will always be

But not if we don’t

Change what we may believe

I only hope that I am around in twenty-five years to appreciate and enjoy life’s changes.

  6. This piece connects with me deeply. I have always been emotional, attached to an idea, Change is not what I easily accept, but the order of our existence and evolution is all about change. I have got to learn that and ever since have tried to be compliant to the order of nature. It’s wonderful poetry, wise and precise 🙏
